How to Make a Rum Horchata Drink

The Horchata is the name of several kinds of traditional beverages that are made from using ground almonds, barley, rice, sesame seeds, or tigernuts.  The Horchata Liqueur is a creamy liqueur that has been enjoyed in Spain, Latin America, and even Ancient Egypt.  The Maya Horchata is made with rum from the birthplace of rum, Barbados.  It is added with diary cream, some cinnamon, vanilla splash, and some secret ingredients.

Maya Horchata is much better than Irish Cream as it has a touch of fresh cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  People love taking shots of Maya Horchata.  Some have it after dinner and some love having it with friends.  It is a liqueur that is enjoyed by both male and female. Even those who are not fond of spirits will love the taste of Maya Horchata’s creaminess.

The creamy Maya Horchata can be enjoyed straight up, on the rocks, or it can be used as an ingredient for cocktails.  It can be used for the Cinnamon Toast Shot or the Cinnamon Bun Shot.  Although May Horchata is not as versatile as other types of liqueur, it does taste very heavenly with these two drinks.  When you experienced these two shots, you will find it difficult deciding which will be your favorite shot among the two.  Try it yourself and see if you can make a decision, also please visit to learn more on how to make a rum horchata drink along with your favorite alcohol compliment.

EAT LA Loves Our Chips

house-grub-150x150Check out this post on, looking at some of the best homemade chips around Los Angeles.  Guess who made it to the top of the list!

Not to be confused with “chips” as in fish & chips, they’re talking about our potato chips!

If you’ve never tried them, drop by for a basket & a beer!   And for the adventurous, they go great with Habañero Tabasco.  Don’t like to bring the heat?  Try them with some ketchup.

Here’s an excerpt from the article by Jenn Garbee:

When is a chip not a chip? When it’s an art form. Here’s a short list of great chips — potato, rice, corn, even lotus root — found around town.Potato Chips
The Daily Pint
McG’s Irish PubThey’re not on the menu at the Daily Pint because there isn’t a food menu there, but ask for potato chips and you shall receive a paper-lined basket of fantastic golden-brown, thin-sliced crispy potatoes. And they are on the menu at sister pub McG’s in Chatsworth, where they’re fried fresh daily and driven promptly to Santa Monica.

Space For Our Beer Dinner Are Filling Up

Have you reserved your space for our upcoming beer dinner?

We haven’t promoted this outside the pub yet, because we’ve already received strong interest from our regular customers.  We’ve put on beer dinners in the past, selling them out each time, but this is our first outing with our new chef, Andres Moya.  We sat down a couple weeks ago and spent several hours brainstorming with Andres, sampling over 30 beers and deciding which to include in the dinner and what dishes they would go best with.

Andres had about 10 dishes in mind, but we worked that down into a more manageable 6 courses (see menu below).

The dinner starts promptly at 7pm on Thursday, October 22nd, but we encourage you to arrive earlier, around 6:30 for our reception and a complimentary glass of Weihenstephan Lager.  Ticket price is $55 per person, or $100 per couple, tax and gratuity not included.

Call the bar at 818-734-7056 to check availability.
